Race Information

As an athlete, what do I receive as part of the event?

  • Branded swim cap
  • Custom t-shirt
  • Finisher’s medal
  • Custom water bottle
  • Free post-race feast
  • Professional race day announcer
  • Race results posted the same day
  • Live band or Great DJ

Do you provide training clinics?

Yes, we do provide clinics. See specific event pages for details

If I do not pick up my t-shirt and award on race day, will you mail it to me?

No. Please plan to stay through the end of the race to receive these items.

Is the race USAT sanctioned?

Yes, all triathlon races are USAT sanctioned.

What are the USAT fees?

$15 for a one day license and $45 for an annual license.

Do I need to wear my USAP bibs?

Yes. If you do not wear your bib on the run you will be penalized, based on USAT rules and regulations.

What are the age categories?

14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 70-79, 80-84, 85-89

Female Athena (165lbs +)
Male Clydesdale (220lbs +)

What are the age group prizes you give out after the race?

The prizes vary per event…..from plaques to branded pint glasses and hats, etc. Please check each event page for prizes and awards.

Do I have to be present to receive my award?

Yes

Can I have my coach race with me?

No, based on USAT rules and regulations this is not allowed

What clothing do you recommend I wear on race day?

  • We recommend that you wear clothing that will make you feel comfortable, first.
  • Second, since changing in transition for the triathlons is not allowed we recommend that you wear clothing that allows you to swim, bike and run in without needing to make major clothing changes.
  • Lastly, we recommend that you check out the Jakroo Triathlon apparel items that will fit your body and racing needs.

Registration – Packet Pickup

Where do I find my Tri Club and team codes?

Contact your club or team president

What if we are not set up as a club or team within the event?

If you have not set yourself up with our organization, please email info@usapevents.com to get set up to receive the discount code. Please also send a logo for your team or club for promotion on our site.

Is there an Aquabike category?

Yes, we have an Aquabike category in each event. Please see each individual event page for event details and registration links for registration in the Aquabike category.

Can I transfer from one race to another?

Yes. Please advise us at least 3 weeks before race day. This transfer can only occur in the same calendar year. Click Here for Transfer Policy information

How do we register as a relay team?

  1. Click on the registration link for the event you want to participate as a relay team
  2. Make sure to enter all the team members and their correct email address into the original relay setup before payment
  3. Let your team members know that they will receive an invitation and will need to confirm their registration, sign the USAT Waiver and pay the one-day sanctioning fee or enter their USAT number
  4. Once all members have confirmed their invitation and registration in the event your relay team you will be ready for the race.

How many individuals do you allow in a relay team?

2-3 individuals

Can the relay teams be co-ed?

Yes

Who pays for the relay team registration?

The captain pays for the team registration and invites the other relay team members. The team members will be required to enter USA Triathlon membership number or pay for a one day USA Triathlon membership before the event.

What is the weight classification for Clydesdale and Athena?

  • Clydesdale is 220lbs+
  • Athena is 165lbs+

What are the age categories for youth?

11-12, 13-15 & 16-19 years of age, with parental consent

Do you give discounts for veterans, active military, college students, fire, and police?

Yes. You must bring proof of active status at Packet Pick-up. Please contact us and we will give you the appropriate code to register.

What considerations do you offer for a challenged athlete?

We provide designated transition racks, challenged athlete swim starts, personal assistance as required if notified at least 2 weeks in advance of the event.

Where do I put my race bibs (bike, shirt, and helmet)?

The small bib should be placed on the front of your helmet. The bike bib should be placed on the seat post or top tube of the bike. The run bib should be placed on the front of your shirt. We recommend using a bib belt which eliminates the use of safety pins.

Do you supply safety pins for the bib?

Yes, safety pins will be included in your race packet

If I do not pick up my t-shirt and award on race day, will you mail it to me?

No

Can I do mail-in registration?

Yes. Please contact us and we will send a mail in registration form to use.

Can I receive emails, text messages, Facebook and Twitter posts with my results?

Yes. This can be done at the time of registration.

Can I have my packet mailed to me?

No, we do not mail packets.

Are the USAP T-Shirts gender specific?

Yes


Swim

What is the temperature of the water?

The water temperature depends on the swim location for each event. Check each event page for appropriate temperatures.

What are the wave starts?

They are stated on each event page as well as in the AIG (Athlete Information Guide), which will be posted 30 days before each event.

Can I wear a wetsuit?

Yes

Should I wear a wetsuit?

We always recommend you wear a wetsuit for safety purposes but it is not required.

Can I wear my own swim cap?

Yes, as long as it is the same color as your USAP designated wave color swim cap.

Where can I rent a wetsuit?

Can I stop during the swim and rest?

Yes, but you can't use the lifeguard vessel to move you forward while resting.

Can I select my own stroke during the swim?

Yes. Any stroke is acceptable and advised.

Can I ride my mountain bike?

Yes

Will you have aid stations on the bike course?

Yes. There will be aid stations on all Olympic race bike courses. There will not be aid stations for the sprint bike courses.

How do I volunteer for an event?

Transitions

Where do I set myself up in the transition area?

Transition areas will be first come first serve and we have designated areas for each club with more than 4 members racing in each event.

Is the transition area secure at all times?

Yes, we have very secure transitions and will make sure all your items are secure during and after your race.

We will make sure that no spectators come into transition and that we do NOT open transition until all bikes have been removed.
